Top 5 Entertainment Wedding Trends 2013

Feb 7, 2013

As the wedding season begins, many couples are looking for fresh ideas to make their special day one to remember. Every year we see new trends that takes the wedding experience to a whole other level. In order to help our clients and friends with new ideas to use for their wedding, we decided to put together our own Top 5 Entertainment Wedding Trends that we will see a lot of in 2013. Will you be using any of the trends or do you have your own fresh idea you will use?

1) The Reception Lounge
The reception lounge is a small, quiet space away from the dance floor, giving guests a chance to mingle in a setting with finger foods and cocktails. A trend we see our clients using the reception lounge is as a space with lit up furniture, a photo booth, finger foods and cocktails with unique names selected by the bride and groom. Also, many are adding a dj or live musician to play Jazz along with other relaxed selections picking up the pace before the doors open to the grand ballroom. It is sort of like the cocktail hour but in a much more sexy environment. We saw the reception lounge take off in 2012 and it will only get bigger in 2013.

2) Unique First Dance Selection
There will always be classic selections to pick from for the first dance as Mr. & Mrs. but for 2013 couples are making changes. We are seeing many couples pick much more personal selections, something that has a special meaning just to them. If you need help in looking for a first dance selection, you can see our Top 5 (English) or Top 5 (Spanish) first dance selections that often get chosen by our brides from our extensive library.

3) The Musical Journey
Throughout the years, we have seen a drastic change in the playlist used for each event. Many of todays couples enjoy a variety of music and understand that their guests also have different tastes. Couples are more open to having different genres mixed at their wedding. We can play anything from Hip Hop, Top 40, House, Rock to Latin music, giving the bride and groom and their guests an unforgettable experience.

4) The After Party
In 2012, many of our clients decided that their 5hr reception was not enough to celebrate their special day. The after party is set to a completely different mood. Many have wardrobe changes and it is set to a much younger and vibrant environment. Not only that, it is also accompanied with different food and drinks. One very popular addition to the after party is the food truck or snack bar.

5) Social Media
Andy Warhol said, “In the future everyone will be world famous for fifteen minutes". Many couples want their 15 minutes of fame and want their wedding to go viral. As we have seen in the past, many have had their wedding go viral in many different ways; unique entrance choreography, funny father and daughter dance, or a parody of a popular song. The use of social media will only grow at a faster pace in 2013. Technology allows us to use social media to reach those that were not able to make it to the wedding. One option that we have been able to provide to our clients is, live-stream. We can make a custom web page for our clients and live stream the wedding in real time to include more people, specially if those folks are located in other states or countries.
